Meer informatie
This story is a historical comic love story. It’s all about four young people in Athens. Hermia and Lysander were in love, but the father of Hermia (Egeus) wanted her to marry Demetrius. Helena, a good friend of Hermia, is in love with Demetrius. When she heard that Hermia and Lysander wanted to run off together, she told that to Demetrius. At the same time, Oberon (King of the fairies) wanted to punish Titiana (the queen), because of her little Indian boy. He asked Puck (Robin Goodfellow) to get some love herb. At night, when they all slept, Puck used the herb on Lysander and Demetrius. In the morning when they awaked, the first person they saw was Helena, and they all fell in love with her. Hermia didn’t understand what happened and Helena thought it’s all a big joke. Puck also used the herb on Titiana who fell in love with Bottom (an actor), and he had a donkey-head. After some time Oberon felt a bit guilty about what he did, so asked Puck to go back with the herb and made the spell undo. And that night when all the lovers slept, Puck used the herb once again on Lysander. When they all awaked that morning, Lysander was just in love with Hermia and Demetrius again with Helena. Puck also used the herb on Titiana, so she felt back in love with Oberon. At their wedding, Bottom and his friends performed a play (they practiced it the whole play). At the wedding from Oberon and Titiana, everybody marries! So… Happily ever after! My opinion: I like this play from Shakespeare, but in Huis Doorn I didn’t understand the story. I didn’t understand what the things the said meant. But now I know where the play is about, so now I like the Play. I think I’d like the play more if it was in Dutch, than it would be easier to understand!
