A little boy was taken after living in a workhouse where his mother died giving birth to him to an orphanage where the boy spent the first nine years of his life. They gave him the name “Oliver Twist”. But when he was nine years old, too old for an orphanage, someone senthim away to a terrible place. Because he asked for more food he was sent to a coffin maker, where he was very unhappy. Oliver ran away to London; there he met Jack who sent him to an old man named Fagin. But Fagin was a thief, he sent boys to rob people. Oliver met a girl named Nancy, whowas always kind to him. One day he got caught by the police fpr robbing a man, but the victim, Mr. Brownlow told the police that Oliver was innocent. Mr Brownlow started to look after Oliver. But one day Oliver was kidnapped by Nancy and brought back Fagin. When Oliver was breaking into a place he got shot and was nursed back to health by Rose Maylie. But Nancy who actually liked Oliver too, learned about Oliver’s experiences and wanted to help him and told Rose Maylie and Mr. Brownlow about his history.
A terrible man called Monks who knew Fagin wanted to teach Oliver how to steal. But what they didn’t know was that Nancy heard their conversation. She told Rose Maylie and Mr. Brownlow that Monks knew the Oliver’s identity . Mr. Brownlow had looked for Monks and found out that his real name was Edward Leeford, the son of an old friend of him.
Meanwhile had Fagin found out that Nancy had given some information and told that to Bill Sikes, who killed Nancy. He ran away, but when he tried to escape he hanged himself by accident. Fagin and the rest of his gang got arrested. Meanwhile Monks told Mr. Brownlow that Oliver was his half-brother. Monks’ father was divorced and felt in love with a nineteen years old girl. His father was very rich and when he died and all the money was for the nineteen years old girl. Just before he died his father had brought some stuff to Mr. Brownlow, including a beautiful painting of the girl. When his father died, the girl went away and became totally weakened in the workhouse where she gave birth to Oliver. Mr. Brownlow didn’t knew this until he took Oliver home with him and saw the resemblances to the painting. Monks knew all this and tried to hide and kill Oliver, because otherwise he had to share the inheritance. But now when Mr. Brownlow knew the story, he signed the papers to give Oliver a part of the inheritance and ran away.
Mr. Brownlow had adopted Oliver and they moved into a house close to Rose Maylie.
So it’s a happy end, because finally Oliver has now the chance to live a normal, and happy life.
